Sheldon Thaxter (born 21 November 1990), popularly known as KillaImij is a California-based Jamaican music producer and entrepreneur.[1][2] He is the founder of KillaImij Records, an independent record label headquartered in Kingston, Jamaica. KillaImij rose to popularity with the release of the debut single Tik Tok Tik[3] which received over 500K streams on Spotify.[4][5]
Early life and education
Thaxter was born on 21 November 1990 to Jennifer Gray and Patrick Thaxter. He grew up with two sisters – Tiffany and Sellian in Kingston, Jamaica, and later in Portland. Thaxter graduated from Titchfield High School and moved to America, where he studied at the College of Agriculture, Science, and Education.
Career
Prior to establishing KillaImij Records, KillaImij worked as a network engineer and also served in the US Marine.[6] In 2022, He started KillaImij Records and began his career as a music producer.[7] On March 5th, 2022, the label debuted with 9Grainz, and released its debut song Tik Tok Tik. This single quickly gained traction and received over 100k Spotify streams in its first month.[8]
Under the leadership of Thaxter, KillaImij has gained prominence in the industry for promoting budding artists like I-Octane, Munga Honorable, and Dwayno.[9] He is also currently working with the former Gaza Empire Member, Gaza Kym, on her EP, which is set to be released by the end of 2022.[10]
